Başakşehir FK vs Galatasaray
Match Analysis
Although Galatasaray have started a new winning streak after defeating Göztepe following their victory over Erzurumspor FK, they conceded two goals in their most recent match against Göztepe. They also conceded twice in their opening league fixture against Çorum FK, which ended in a draw. While they are clearly the strongest team in the league offensively, the Yellow and Reds have some evident defensive problems this season.
Başakşehir, another Istanbul side that enjoyed a successful 2025/2026 season under Nuri Şahin, have not made a particularly good start this season. Their elimination by FC Inter Turku in the Conference League qualifiers came as a surprise, while their only league victory this season came at home against Kocaelispor. They were also comfortably beaten by Trabzonspor, a team that have attracted attention with the signing of Mohamed Salah but continue to suffer from quality issues and considerable chaos as a team. In fact, considering the controversial disallowed goal, Başakşehir could even have suffered a heavier defeat in that match.
Although Galatasaray will enter this fixture as clear favorites, Nuri Şahin and his players will be determined to prove themselves in a match that puts them in the spotlight. Considering Galatasaray’s defensive weaknesses as well, choosing a side would be risky. Therefore, opting for a high-scoring contest appears to be the much more logical choice.

Ipswich Town vs Liverpool FC
Match Analysis
Liverpool disappointed their supporters by drawing at home against Nottingham Forest and are still without a league victory this season. Although they managed to return from the difficult away trip to Newcastle United with a point after scoring an equalizer in the final seconds of their opening match, failing to beat Nottingham Forest at Anfield has damaged morale. Moreover, conceding two goals in both matches suggests that they are experiencing problems defensively.
Ipswich, meanwhile, have made a very good start to the season despite suffering a heavy away defeat to Manchester United last week. The home side have won two of their last three competitive matches and scored a total of seven goals across those three games. They play with an approach that is not afraid to shoot or actively search for goals.
Despite all this, Liverpool will enter this match as clear favorites and will make a special effort to secure their first league victory of the season. However, the trip to Ipswich may not be easy for them. The home side, who have not had much difficulty finding goals this season, should also score against a Liverpool team that have shown defensive problems.

Real Betis Balompié vs Real Madrid
Match Analysis
Although Real Betis made a good start to the league season by defeating Real Sociedad and Valencia CF, they suffered a heavy 5–2 defeat to one of the weaker sides in the league, Levante UD, last week. The fact that both of their victories against Real Sociedad and Valencia came by 1–0 scores was already an indication of their fragile structure. In addition, the club have experienced transfer difficulties due to financial problems and effectively forced Pablo García into a move to Racing Santander. The scenes of Pablo García crying his eyes out had a major impact across the football world. The transfer also deeply disappointed Real Betis supporters.
Everything is going well at Real Madrid. They continued their perfect league record with a convincing 4–0 victory over Málaga CF last week, and most importantly, Vinicius Junior is now passing the ball. Yes, you heard that correctly: Vinicius Junior is now passing the ball. He surprised everyone by assisting Arda Güler for the fourth goal against Málaga instead of taking the shot himself. The social-media drama surrounding the absurd claim that “Arda Güler always passes to Mbappé” was also effectively put to rest by Arda and Vinicius through this collaboration. Although José Mourinho often attracts attention on the bench for looking tired and unhappy during matches, his influence is becoming increasingly evident with every passing week. Seeing even Vinicius Junior begin to embrace team play is making the supporters very happy. As the new signings gradually adapt as well, Real Madrid are moving toward becoming an increasingly unstoppable force.
Beating Manuel Pellegrini’s Real Betis away from home is difficult. They always have the potential to cause problems for big teams. However, Real Madrid are going through a historic period. Their squad is incredibly strong, and they have José Mourinho working to get the very best out of it. Real Madrid will finally end their winless run away at Real Betis, which has continued since August 28, 2021.

Paris Saint-Germain vs AS Monaco
Match Analysis
PSG have made a very poor start to the season due to the Bradley Barcola drama and Luis Enrique’s excessive rotation—this habit of rotation being the root cause of the Barcola situation—and they are still without a league victory. After missing out on a win away to LOSC Lille last week, partly because of Ferran Torres’ incredible missed chances, PSG can no longer afford mistakes. In the ruthless world of football, another dropped point this week could lead to Luis Enrique’s position being seriously questioned, despite the remarkable achievements he has delivered at PSG.
Although Monaco, one of the stronger teams in the league, have made a very good start to the season, it appears extremely difficult for them to take points away from a PSG side at the Parc des Princes who have no tolerance for another setback—not from the management, the supporters, the coach, or the players—and will take the field with an absolute determination to win. PSG will secure their first league victory of the season.

FC Porto vs Moreirense FC
Match Analysis
Porto, who won the league title last season with little difficulty under Francesco Farioli, have once again made a flying start. They have won all four of their league matches this season without conceding a single goal, demonstrating that they are once again the clear favorites for the title.
Moreirense have also made a good start to the league season, collecting four points from their three matches after drawing with SC Braga and defeating Casa Pia AC away from home. However, considering the difference in squad quality and Porto’s excellent form, their chances of taking anything away from the Estádio do Dragão are extremely slim. Porto should win without much difficulty and continue their impressive run.

Manchester City vs Coventry City
Match Analysis
The heavy defeat to Arsenal FC in the Community Shield had left supporters extremely concerned about how the Enzo Maresca era would unfold following Pep Guardiola’s departure. However, those clouds of doubt have largely disappeared after two league victories. The convincing 4–1 away win over Crystal Palace last week, in particular, has significantly lifted morale.
This week, they will want to continue their winning streak against Coventry, one of the league’s newly promoted and weakest sides. While newly promoted Ipswich Town and Hull City have surprised football fans with very strong starts to the season, Coventry have continued their Premier League campaign without a point after suffering a heavy 3–0 defeat to Arsenal and then losing at home to Hull City. Given the huge difference in squad quality and the confidence Manchester City have gained from their recent victories, it looks extremely difficult for Coventry to take anything from this away fixture. Man City are likely to start aggressively and look to put the game beyond doubt before half-time.

NEC Nijmegen vs Feyenoord Rotterdam
Match Analysis
Feyenoord, who have shown positive signs following the return of Giovanni van Bronckhorst, suffered a shocking setback by drawing with ADO Den Haag. Despite returning to the Eredivisie after many years, ADO Den Haag had lost their first three league matches with a weak squad before finally collecting their first point against Feyenoord.
This surprising draw was partly the result of Feyenoord’s defensive problems being overlooked by football fans because of the team’s high-scoring victories. Following the ADO Den Haag match, Feyenoord have conceded two goals in each of their last three league matches. It is also worth noting that Thomas Beelen, Jeremiah St. Juste, Jordan Bos, Gijs Smal, and Bart Nieuwkoop are all injured in the defensive line. This week, they travel to face NEC Nijmegen, who have made a good start and are considered one of the more competitive sides in the league.
Although Feyenoord should not have much difficulty finding the net, their defensive weaknesses could make it difficult for them to secure a victory. NEC Nijmegen should score against the established Rotterdam side.

RC Lens vs FC Lorient
Match Analysis
Although Lens lost away to Strasbourg, they did not produce a particularly poor performance. They played with considerable determination and repeatedly troubled the opposition defense, particularly through the threats created by Abdallah Sima. Lens had little difficulty creating chances and finding shots, but they simply could not beat Strasbourg goalkeeper Filip Jørgensen. Jørgensen capped an excellent performance with a crucial save in the final seconds. Had someone other than Jørgensen been in goal for Strasbourg, the result could have been different.
Although Lens have some defensive problems, they should put last week’s unfortunate defeat behind them by defeating Lorient at home with the strong support of their supporters. Lorient are still going through a rebuilding process and have made a poor start to the league season.

Inter Milan vs SSC Napoli
Match Analysis
Especially in recent years, Serie A has become a league with relatively low entertainment value that many football fans no longer particularly enjoy following. The decline in quality is also one of the reasons why the Italian national team have failed to qualify for the last three World Cups. Nevertheless, matches between the league’s historic and major clubs can still produce intense contests that are enjoyable for supporters. Inter vs Napoli is one of them.
The defending champions, Inter, have also made a strong start to the season and remain perfect. Massimiliano Allegri, who left AC Milan to take charge of Napoli, initially made a positive start to the league by winning away at Genoa CFC. However, Napoli disappointed their supporters last week by losing at home to Como 1907 in a difficult contest.
Inter, the favorites for the title, have made a flawless start to the season and will naturally play for the victory at home. At the same time, this match represents an important showcase for Napoli’s players, who will make an extra effort to prove themselves. Experienced coach Massimiliano Allegri will also want to make up for the disappointing defeat to Como by taking points from this difficult away fixture. Although Inter are the favorites, we can expect a difficult and entertaining contest in which both teams find the net.

FC Schalke 04 vs Bayern Munich
Match Analysis
Returning to the Bundesliga three years after relegation, Schalke failed to build a squad capable of competing at this level and, as expected, made a poor start to the season with a 3–0 defeat away to FC Augsburg. Bayern, meanwhile, the defending champions and clear favorites for another title, continue their campaign without any major problems. Their comfortable and dominant 5–1 victory over VfB Stuttgart, one of the more competitive sides in the league, showed that they are well prepared for the season.
With a squad vastly superior in quality and a very strong start to the season behind them, Bayern should defeat Schalke away from home without much difficulty.

Fenerbahçe vs Beşiktaş JK
Match Analysis
Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş meet in the first derby of the Süper Lig season.
The Black Eagles looked highly prepared and motivated last week, defeating Çorum FK 6–2 with a hat-trick from Dušan Vlahović. Their new signings, Fabio Miretti and Ernest Poku, also made positive impressions despite playing only a very short amount of time, giving signs that they will be ready in a short period.
Fenerbahçe ended their 18-year wait to return to the Champions League by defeating Olympique Lyon away from home and securing qualification. They also appear to have put the opening-week defeat to Gençlerbirliği behind them with two consecutive league victories. In fact, Fenerbahçe also look well prepared for the season.
There is no clear favorite in what should be a highly competitive contest. Although Fenerbahçe have a slight advantage because of their home support, Beşiktaş appear much more prepared, motivated, and hungry, while also possessing a defense that has been difficult to break down. Dušan Vlahović, who scored a hat-trick last week, could cause serious problems for a Fenerbahçe defense that conceded two goals each against Konyaspor and Gençlerbirliği. Therefore, rather than choosing a side, backing the highly motivated and in-form Beşiktaş attack to score against Fenerbahçe appears to be the much more logical choice.

AS Roma vs Atalanta BC
Match Analysis
Gian Piero Gasperini’s Roma have made a flying start to the season. They won both of their league matches against US Lecce and ACF Fiorentina by convincing 4–0 scorelines. Atalanta, meanwhile, appointed Maurizio Sarri in June and have also started the season with victories, but their performances have not been particularly convincing. They defeated US Sassuolo 2–1 and then beat Bologna FC 1909 1–0 thanks to a Lazar Samardžić goal in the 90+6th minute.
They also struggled significantly to score against Hapoel Tel Aviv in the Conference League qualifiers, despite facing a very weak opponent. After drawing 0–0 at home in the first leg, they eventually scraped through in the second leg with a 1–0 victory away from home, courtesy of Gianluca Scamacca’s 72nd-minute goal. They have looked like a team that struggles to break opponents down and find goals.
Things will be far from easy against a Roma side that are extremely well prepared and in excellent form. Furthermore, having played Conference League qualifying matches is likely to leave Atalanta relatively fatigued heading into this fixture. Regardless, this will be a difficult match for both sides, but Roma are considerably more prepared, in better form, fresher, and higher in morale. They will want to end their mini curse by defeating Atalanta, whom they have not beaten since March 5, 2022.

SC Heerenveen vs AZ Alkmaar
Match Analysis
Lee-Roy Echteld’s AZ Alkmaar are continuing their campaign brilliantly. They have won all five of their competitive matches this season, scoring seventeen goals and conceding just three. They will want to continue this excellent form and winning streak by securing another victory away at Heerenveen.
Although Heerenveen have failed to produce the expected level of performance in their last two league matches and are not looking particularly convincing, they can be a difficult opponent at home against bigger clubs. They demonstrated their ability to cause problems by defeating FC Twente Enschede at home in their opening league match and then drawing 2–2 away to Ajax Amsterdam.
AZ Alkmaar are naturally the favorites thanks to their excellent form, and they are highly motivated and full of confidence. However, during long winning streaks, the possibility of complacency or underestimating an opponent naturally increases. We are not saying it will happen, but the possibility exists during such extended runs. Therefore, it is worth being cautious in away matches against competitive opponents who can cause problems for big teams. Rather than choosing a side in the trip to Heerenveen, opting for a high-scoring contest appears to be the safer and more logical choice.

Elche CF vs Real Sociedad
Match Analysis
Elche began the season with a 1–1 draw away to newly promoted Deportivo A Coruña before suffering a heavy 5–0 home defeat to a FC Barcelona side without a recognized center forward. Last week, they lost 3–2 away to another newly promoted side, Racing Santander, failing to stop their poor run. Having conceded nine goals in three matches, Elche are facing serious defensive problems. The sale of Álvaro Rodríguez, one of the most important players in the current squad, without properly replacing him could prove costly. The same applies to the late transfer-window departure of defensive cornerstone David Affengruber, who was sold to Fulham FC.
Real Sociedad, meanwhile, began the season with defeats against two difficult opponents, Real Betis Balompié and Real Madrid. However, they have started to clear the dark clouds hanging over the team by defeating RCD Espanyol Barcelona and drawing with Celta de Vigo, at least avoiding the worst-case scenario.
With the crisis deepening at Elche following a poor transfer window and an extremely poor start to the season, while Real Sociedad have begun to show signs of recovery despite their own difficult start, it looks as though the familiar pattern between these two teams will continue. Real Sociedad have not lost to Elche since April 20, 2015, and they should remain unbeaten once again.
